Well I haven't been doing that much, working mostly. Temping though, money is crap, get taxed
far too much, and the jobs are so boring.
The first job I had was
for 3 days. I was working for the Sydney Institute of Technology, oooooooh I hear u cry. Well it was shit. Doing student enrolments.
Me and Owen, another backpacker turned up in shirt and tie the first day, others are there looking like they are living on
the streets. Then we are sat there from 9am-5pm on the first day, not one person turned up. I know Ozzies are a bit dumb,
but no one all day, terrible. The next day was just as bad, we had a few people. The following day was really busy, lots of
'potential' students turning up to enrol. This girl came in, was trying so hard not to laugh, her first name was Kylie, middle
name Madonna, lol.
The next week, didn't
have any work, not that I minded. Im getting used to this one week working, one week off. The next job I had was for the Australian
Government, ooooooooooh I hear you cry again. Well this one wasn't shit. It was fu**in shit. Thankfully it was only a few
days work, any more than that I would have to have resigned. I am looking for another job, temping is all right, but I want
permanent work.
Im now living in another
hostel. Hotel Bakpak, only $135 a week. Really nice, but there are some right characters in there. Most people are under 24,
but some are about 204, moaning at nothing.
Ive been to a few sites
in Sydney. Been unto Constitution Hill to view the bridge. Also went to the Rocks. I was expecting a Big Statue of Captain
Cook and a British Flag. None of that there, its a shopping Precinct. Captain Cook is 3 miles away in a park. I
have been to see the statue. Also been waving like a nutter when they where shooting the helicopter scenes for the 'Matrix'
sequels. Also missed the World Premier of 'Dirty Deeds' on Monday 15th July, saw the sign about 2 hours after. My 'favourite'
singer was in HMV on Saturday 13th, I was tempted to go and see if she really looks like a porcelain doll, but couldnt be
bothered getting up for 1.30pm.
Been to a few, yes only a few bars. They are all in Kings
Cross. I always get doormen from Strip joints and hookers coming up to me, asking me if I want to see their shows, or see
their.... Also walking back one night a lady boy said, "ill do u for free", ofcourse I said NO!
The weather here is fine
now. Still cold at 19c (dont ask), but we haven't had rain for 4 weeks, we are experiencing El Nino conditions, well thats
what the weather says anyway.
Clubs,
and pubs have Christmas in July nights. Im going to one. They are having fake snow, and Santa will be there. He will be giving
pressies, if you can prove you have been naughty, should be good.

Sydney Opera House. June 2002. |
Well its now September, and I've finally got around to updating this page. Im still
in the most stunning and vibrant city in the world, Sydney - according to the guidebook that is. For 2 weeks maybe after 3
months it does your head a bit. I do love it, just staying right in the centre, is a pain. Still staying in that hostel,
looking for a flat now though.
Its really hot here, about 27c, and we haven't had rain for weeks, its
just the first week of spring, whats summer going to be like?
Since I last updated this page I've been busy busy busy. Sleeping and
drinking mostly. Decided to look for a job. I've been working for various different companies over that last
couple of months. First was Atlantis, crap. Then TMP worldwide, crap, and Adecco, all right. Im currently working for IGA,
been there 4 long weeks. Anyway its really boring, but its easy so I'll stick it out. Have to get up at 6am,
3 days a week, AHHHH!
Its a supermarket in Mosman - North Syd. I'm doing dock and loading work.
Easy stuff, just unload the stuff, dump it on the isles and move boxes around. Also have to stack shelves and risk my
life up a ladder. They do put me on the checkout on sometimes, I usually get customers saying "Oh where
you from, blah blah, I love your accent". The pay is absolutely terrible, (Mike I want my old job back), and then I get taxed
29%, so work all week for what seems like nothing. Sydney is sooooo expensive.
First day at work this guy Hans, must be 60 odds, who I though was
German, turns out he's Austrian, comes out with the usual unfunny questions, "Have you seen the Loch Ness monster, do
you play the bagpipes, what does a Scotsman wear under his kilt" - your granny.
Also the manager, Glen, Gleen the NZ girls call him, talks like he's a
man of the world, hes 40 odds still living with his mum. You can tell I like working there. Most of the others are all
right though, get on really well with a few so can't complain too much.
I've slowly been taking in the sites of Sydney. Have been to see
some touristy places. Don't know if you saw it on the news in the UK, or wherever you are, but 3 whales came right into Sydney
Harbour. They were there on a Monday, also still there on the Tuesday. I walked down to see them on the Wednesday, they had
left, bit selfish I though!!
Went to see the Chinese Dinosaurs at Australia Museum. Dinosaurs that
had been found in China. Wasn't that interesting, and the $14 entry was a bit steep considering you had to pay again if you
wanted to go into the normal displays. Also went to Darling Harbour. Went to the Chinese Garden - its the largest Chinese
Garden outside China. Really nice peaceful and tranquil. Also ponced about at the International boat show, yachts theyre costing
around $5m, Ive ordered one just in time for Christmas. Also saw the sea lions down at the Aquarium. I think if I was an animal
id be a sea lion, just sitting around doing nothing all day - would suit me perfect. Also went to the Casino, bit Vegas trashy,
full of old dears trying to win money to buy a stairlift. Talking of stairs, I keep falling UP them, only I could fall up
stairs.
Also been taking in other sites. They involve various establishments
in the CBD, Kings Cross and Oxford Street. Went to a Christmas in July night. Felt really weird, playing Christmas music,
a tree and all, cheap booze which was a bonus, actually felt like Christmas. Met a guy from Glasgow the other week, fresh
from the Kylie concert. His brother designed the club home, down at Darling Harbour, and could get us on the VIP list. Basic
drinks where $7, not good.
Nothing much else been happening, when it does, ill post it
up.
Spring in the City
I'm still in Sydney, and loving every minute of it, apart from when I'm at work. Sydney is far too hot though; its only
about the 2nd week of spring. Its about 21c by 9am, some mornings, 30c by noon. Sat had to be like 32c. Whats summer going
to be like? Although today it was pissing it down!!
I'm still working in IGA, which gets worst everyday. Everyone who works the floor hates, the people on the till and the
supervisors/managers/owners. We have 2 phrase for everything "who gives a fu*k" and "tell someone who cares". Although I just
got a pay rise, which was good. Also all the old dears, loving my accent nice to be loved, lol.
One week I had spent all my money by the Sunday, had no food at all, resorted to eating spoonfuls of sugar, and a 2 week
out-of-date yoghurt, wasn't good, thought I was going to collapse with exhaustion, having to work 9 hours a day. Only had
25cents, so couldnt get on the net for net banking, and couldnt do an ET.
Also had a really sore throat the other week, thought it was swollen glands, for $50 the doctor confirmed this, all fine
now.
Besides work I've not been doing much, getting pissed mostly at the usual haunts in Kings Cross and the centre.
I dont know where my head was last week, up my arse more than likely. Had so much fun, and drink its unimaginable.
Last Wednesday it was pay day, I decided to nip in to the pub with the Canadian guy from my dorm, just a few JDs and coke,
then it was off to the hostel quiz night, where we got stuck in to the free wine. 5 or 6 wines later, we came third in the
quiz, 15 mins free Internet, between our group - me Steve and the other guy in our dorm Richard, also $10 off accommodation
each.
We decide to head to the Mandarin Club which is just across the road from our hostel its about 9.30pm. As we make our way
out the hostel, I somehow fall down 3 stairs, oops too much to drink I think. Anyway, my 2 roommates, me and Ben from Hawaii,
cross the road and walk to the Mandarin, those 3 are in front, Im shouting back to some girls at our hostel, next thing DONG!!!!
I walked right into a pole, this massive thud; thought id spilt my head open, didnt thou. In the Mandarin club, the bouncer
is like, where have you been "nowhere we are sober" they let us in, only for me to trip up the stairs.
The Mandarin Club is one of those Chinese places, which let in foreign visitors, only $2.50 VB's. So we are drinking, 9/11
Memorial comes on the telly, Ben and Steve are watching it, then this woman about 10 feet away, is just sitting talking to
her friend, Ben is like SHUT THE FU*K UP, SHUT THE FU*K UP WE ARE WATCHING THIS, she starts arguing back then is quiet, then
comes over to have a go, shes like, yeah sorry I sympathise with you, great shes going to be quiet, then she starts going
off on one, yeah but you got to move on and stuff, shit all hell breaks lose, she left the club.
So we are watching it again, then Ben just suddenly shouts at these Chinese guys, SHUT THE FU*K UP, they come over ready
for a fight with bottles and all, the bouncers are up, to Ben any more of this ill wrip your fuc*ing head off. Oops, newasy
we got out alive.
Ben left first; Richard and me left Steve, buggered off to Cheers, then the Scubar, then back to the hostel, found Steve,
then went to Charlie Chans. Got back about 3.30am, Richard lost his trainers somewhere, still hasnt found them, lol. Although
I did find a rather nice Prada scarf if anyone wants it. Did not feel too good at work on Thursday.
Then Friday comes, its the free Wine and Cheese night in the hostel, too much wine again. I had no intention of going out
after it, maybe for 1 or 2. Anyway I came first prize in the raffle, worth $120, 3 free nights accommodation, $10 phone card,
1hr free internet, bottle of champagne (wasnt Krug) 4 free jugs of beer at the Scubar, so we downed the champers, then off
to the Scubar. With the Canadian girl Michelle who came 2nd and another who came third 3rd, in total 9 free jugs. We met a
few Canadians in the Scubar, took over the dance floor and got the DJ to play some RnB, was heaven. Canadians are now
my favourite people, especially one ;) Then it was off to Paddy McGuires, Cheers, 3 Monkeys, Scruffs, too much to drink.
I got in at 4am, had to be up at 6, people are like, stay up, and have a power nap at 5.30am. Nah went to bed woke up at 7.47am,
did not hear the alarm at 6. Had to call work, saying I couldnt go in, while trying to sound ill.
Anyway, enough of my drunken antics. Not been up to much else,
not did any touristy stuff. Was going to go to Bondi a few times, but always sleep in too late. Been in Sydney 3 months and
still haven't been to the beach. Got plenty of time to do the touristy stuff before I leave in a few weeks, or will do it
when I return in December. A woman from work wants to take me and Linda (another backpacker) to her house on Sunday for lunch.
Only problem is she wants to make a day of it she live in the Blue Mountains, 2 hours away by train. Can hardly turn down
the invite it is free food, just hope I dont get bored to death!
Christmas in the Sun
Well Im still in sunny Sydney, it is really weird having Christmas in the sun, its averaging about 35c,
theres Christmas trees and lights up everywhere, doesn't feel like Christmas to me at all, Im still waiting for it to snow.
This is going to be my first Christmas in the sun; Im quite looking forward to it.
Well since I last wrote, Ive finished work, thank god, and couldnt wait to leave that place. Although I
did go to their Christmas party, they paid for all the food, and there was an unlimited tab at the bar, I certainly made use
of that. Still living in the same place, is alright, people are ok, although we got some right dickheads living with us, messiest
people Ive ever met. We did find a huntsman spider in the house one day; one guy was so scared he was going to move out. -
the joys of living in OZ! Sydney has been stinking with bush fires, also had some pretty impressive dust storms, and brown
rain.
I bumped into Melanie Griffith and Denis Hopper last month, they where in the next building to my friends
apartment, shooting the new Frank Sinatra movie.
Saw the world brightest Christmas tree been lit at Darling Harbour, theres 56,000 lights on it. Also the
most impressive Christmas tree Ive ever seen in the QVB.
Not been up to much else, just lying on the beaches, doing a few of the costal walks, saw the Sculptures
by the Sea exhibition, tried a bit of surfing been to the markets by moonlight, learning more Dutch - coming along pretty
good. Did have really bad food poisoning earlier this week, still recovering, and thought I was going to die
Plans for Christmas are to be on Bondi Beach,
and for New Years, down at the Harbour Bridge. Really looking forward to hitting the road again in early January.
Happy New Year
Well since I last wrote just before Christmas, I've been up to quite a lot.
Christmas in Sydney was really weird, didn't really feel like Christmas. We went to Carols
in the Domain, along with 100,000 other people, was really amazing, a few famous Ozzies where there singing, took along some
food, mince pies and wine, only one idiot forgot a corkscrew (me), luckily we managed to borrow one, and we sang and drank
the night away.
Christmas Eve was celebrated in the Rocks and Circular Quay, the bar didnt announce it was
Christmas at midnight; anyway, we had a good night, got home around 3am.
Six hours later, we awake and head to Bondi Beach. I was pretty surprised that everything
was running as normal on Christmas Day, all the buses were running and quiet a few shops and cafes were open. Back home its
like a ghost town. Myself, Ally, Luci, Ronald, Julia and James, had put in $30 each, we bought loads of beer, food, Christmas
crackers a blow up tree and a mini barbecue, The barbecue took over 3 hours to heat, but we did manage to cook sausages, chicken
and some steak. We all bought each other $5 presents, got some good stuff. Also got a nice bottle of Scotch. Weather was alright
sunny one minute, raining the next was a good day though, stayed on Bondi till around 9, drinking, singing Christmas Carols,
on the way back to the city, we where singing them on the bus, entire bus joined in, was pretty hilarious, as no one could
remember the words to 12 days of Christmas.
Boxing Day was a total wash out. We headed to the Harbour to watch the Sydney to Hobart Boat
Race. Only we were standing at the wrong bit of the Harbour, completely missed it, standing there for ages in the pouring
rain. We were going to go and watch 'Lord of the Rings' but was completely sold out. Decided to head to the pub, then for
some food at Mamas Kitchen, the house wine goes down like water. Head to a few other bars; end up in Cheers completely drunk.
Taking pictures, when we got the pictures back, we couldnt remember any of it, people must have been laughing at us so much.
Took a drive to the Blue mountains, with Ally, Dave and his cousin, was truly amazing, went
to Katoomba first, saw the 3 Sisters did a bush walk, then went up the worlds steepest railways, backwards - not a good idea
after a large lunch. Also went to the Grand Canyon, and the Wentworth Falls - really nice, best place in the Blue Mountains,
could have sat there for hours just looking at the place.
During Christmas and New Year, went to a few concerts in Hyde Park, had some fairground rides,
was pretty hilarious going on them after 8 VBs.
The Big One - NYE, was absolutely amazing, so amazing, its hard to describe, definitely had
to be there. Always wanted to be in Sydney for New Year and it didnt disappoint. Myself, Dave and Luci, had bought tickets
for Mobile Home down at Wharf 3 - right under the Bridge, Basement Jaxx and Roger Sanchez were playing. We started the celebrations
in Kings Cross at 1pm, before heading to the city and then to Circular Quay for the 9 pm fireworks, which they cancelled due
to high winds. Head to Mobile Home, to join the 8000 others, place wasnt that packed though, plenty of space to move around.
There was no countdown to midnight, we where all just standing looking at the bridge then we see all the fireworks exploding
from the bridge, was about a 20 minute fireworks show, was really spectacular, best new years eve ever. After that we danced
the night away, Basement Jaxx played a wicked set, Roger Sanchez was a bit, so so, not as good as he could have been. Mobile
finished at 6am, headed home, crashed out for a few hours, before waking up, going for some food, then heading to Hyde Park
for the Global Village concert.
Ally and me also took a trip to Palm Beach - of 'Home and Away' fame. Did the walk up to
the Lighthouse, spectacular view of the beach, and the central coast. Coming back down we decided to take one of the other
paths, we get attacked by these green killer bees, see 2 lizards, then I jump onto this rock, Fu*k, sh*t, SNAKE! See this
head popping out from the rock, it starts to come out, thankfully it was only a lizard. The path suddenly becomes really thin,
we decided to head back. Back at the start of the path, there is a danger sign, saying no entry that some idiot had pulled
down. Got a picture outside the Surf Club - had to be done.
Also took a trip to Manly really nice beach. Saw Anna Kournikova opening the new Adidas store
in the QVB. Went to the zoo on Monday was all right, nothing great, apart form the Meer cats - hilarious and the Harbour views.
Well I was supposed to be heading off to New Zealand on Thursday.
Last month I was all set to go and start moving on again. But over Christmas and New Year, as the date got closer it really
depressed me didnt want to leave so soon. So decided to try and change my flights, get a job and a new place to stay. Did
all this early last week, so Im now staying in OZ till end of Feb, which Im pretty pleased about. Also moved into a really
nice apartment with some friends on Sunday, has a great view of Hyde Park and the Harbour, has a pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, gym,
squash court, pool table and table tennis table, fantastic courtyard on the roof and a barbecue. The weather is fantastic,
currently around 36c - can you blame me for wanting to stay.
A Year on the Road
As of Feb 12th, I had been travelling around the globe for a year. Pretty scary thought,
not been home or seen my family, there has been times when Ive though, what am I doing and why am I doing this, and felt like
going home, but just keep going, and I will be for the next few months, having so much fun, never want this trip to end.
Well Im still on OZ, not for long, heading to New Zealand on March 4th, dont really want
to leave OZ, after 11 months, its become a new home, but definitely plan to return.
Moved in to another new flat, as we had problems with the last one, this one is really nice
just behind Darling Harbour. Still have a great view and all the facilities,
is a bit pricey though, but couldnt be bothered with the hassle of searching for a place, just took the first decent thing
I found. Still working, finish on Friday, which I'm looking forward to.
Headed to the Blue Mountains, at the end of January with my friend Ally spent 3 days there,
over the Holiday weekend, went on some bush walks, saw a funnel webs nest and a brown snake - no one got bit. Also these birds
that are only spotted in the Blue Mountains 3 times a year got really good pic. Also went to the Jenolan Caves, these world
heritage listed Limestone caves, pretty impressive, they have a part in it called the Cathedral, where the acoustics are really
good, few opera singers and choirs have sung in there, so I just had to give my lungs a workout. We stayed in the YHA in Katoomba,
was all right - just another hostel.
Saw the sunset at the 3 sisters, well on the second night, as someone, fell asleep and completely
missed it. Went to check out the notorious nightlife in Katoomba. The Katoomba RSL what a place, might have the cheapest beer
in town, but was full, of emm, real people, almost headed straight back to Sydney. Also went to a few other bars, pretty annoyed that
they closed at 11, only place that stayed open, charged about $5 a drink. Also went to the Kangaroo place, Ally wanted a pic
so he tries to get close to one, hes about 2 feet a way, I get him and the kangaroo in the pic. My turn I edge close to the
kangaroo, closer, closer, right beside it with my hand it, it sniffs it, as he goes to take the pic it hops away, I was so
gutted. Got a pic with a dead one sniffing my hand in a museum the next day. Bit of interesting Trivia for you, did you know
that when a Koala is born it is the size of a BEE!
What else have I been up to, had a very interesting night out in Manly, no buses back to
the city, so 4 of us fell asleep at the bus stop, before been woken by someone, then having to pay loads for a taxi.
Its my 22nd birthday on Wednesday, after last year horrendous fiasco in Bangkok (no beer on my 21st), I've planned
ahead, had a rooftop BBQ yesterday at my place, with 10 people. We had kangaroo steaks, really nice, also we got too much
beer; we were on the roof for about 8 hours and didnt finish it. I still have 30 tooheys new and 2 litres on wine left. Although
we did go to the pub about midnight last night for beer, not sure why. Wednesday will just get completely drunk, in the city. Sat night
we are going to the greyhound racing, should be a god laugh; see how much I can win.
Final Loop of
OZ
Hello people, well Im supposed to be in NZ, just now, but after pleading with the woman at STA, and half the
worlds airlines, I managed to stay in OZ a little longer.
Yeah so last time I wrote it was coming up to m birthday. Well I was 22, on Feb 26th, old eh! I hear it was pretty
good, don't remember a thing; bad experience with double JD's drinking them like water and Black Sambuka. Was completely spaced
out at Circular Quay, although somehow managed to persuade everyone to go to the club Home, only place I ended up was
home. Passed out on my bed, next thing remember was walking up at 6.40, panicking cause, id be late for work. Sat
on the sofa for about 30 mins completely spaced out. Passed out and turned up for work 3 hours late, the wed night was
supposed to be quiet, sat was supposed to be the big night. On the Saturday went to Bondi beach for the last
time, will miss it. In the evening went to Greyhound racing, although some people (u know who u are) went to Mardi
Gras instead. Dogs were pretty good, not one of us won anything though. Was a really good laugh and got completely pissed
(again). In the city and spent about 2 hrs looking for a bar.
Last night in Sydney was pretty good went for drinks after work and met up with few friends in the city. Was a bit depressing saying
goodbye to them all, been like a mini 'family' for the last 5 months - will see you all soon though.
Left Sydney and headed down to Canberra on the OZ experience with my mate Ally. Stopped off at a few places of interest on the way. First
was Botany Bay - Captain
Cook's first landing spot. Then stopped off at Huksison saw about 12 dolphins playing around in the sea, was pretty close,
was going to swim out to the, but couldn't be assed. Also passed the Snowy Mountains didnt see any snow though. Stopped in Canberra, saw the Parliament building, Capital Hill, etc. We wanted to spend a few days there, called OZ exp.
was only 1 space on the next bus out, so as I had to move pretty fast, Ally stayed I caught the bus the next morn. Canberra nightlife is pretty sh*t, managed
to get a few beers though.
Next place we headed to was Gelatipity, stopped off at the Cann River for lunch, saw loads of Pelicans, flying around. We spent the night on a farm - Karronda Park. Pretty good. 16 of us in this log cabin. Cost
$40 for the package, which was accommodation, the climbing wall (hilarious) a 4 course dinner (far too much food) and
3-course breakfast. After dinner and a quite a few beers, we went spotlighting. About 20 of us in the back of this van, which
has a cage over it - felt like a slave. It zooms around the countryside, over all theses bumps, trying to hold on with one
hand and a bottle of wine in the other. Saw a few kangaroos. HIT IT, was my response when we saw them. Back at the cabin,
sat up till about 4am, drinking, playing cards. Next morning we had to leave at 8am. First stop we went for some wine tasting, although
feeling horrendous, I couldn't spoil the party. There were 11 wines to taste. Some people were just taking a sip and throwing
it away. A few others and me downed the lot, and bought a bottle for the journey to Melbourne.
Was going to go straight to Melbourne, but as the Grand Prix was the next day, accommodation was very pricey. I stopped off at Philip Island. Place seemed a bit backwards to me (well all
of OZ is). Had to stay in a tent, interesting experience, was sharing with a few Canadians, pretty good laugh. The thing Philip Island is famous for is a nob. Yeah the nobbies, these
rocks and Seal Island, and the Penguins. At sunset I saw about 5000 little penguins coming out of the sea, running up the sand and hills
to their nests, was an interesting experience.
Left Philip Island as it was boring me. Headed to Melbourne, at first didnt like it, reminded me of Glasgow/Bangkok. But explored the city a bit more, seemed
really nice. Went to some concert in the park. Went to St Kilda to meet Ronald and Julia who I shared a house with in Sydney. They said take the tram, its quick
only 20 mins. I walk 2 hours later I get there. Went to the pub where the neighbours night was, didnt see the 'stars' as they
where in a different room, but the did serve Tenants though. Next day headed along the Great Ocean Road, was great cruising
along there in a red convertible, with this blonde, listening to the beach boys, (actually I was in a bus). Stopped off at
all the interesting places. Bells Beach from the film Point Break, 12 Apostles, London Bridge. Did a rain forest walk spotted a few koalas.
Flew up to Cairns on the 13th. Was nice been back there, but it was in the wet season, was pissing down, a cyclone was about to hit,
and there was an outbreak of Dengue Fever, nice! Headed to the bus station, stuck my bag in a locker, drowned myself in mozzie
spray, and headed to the rainforest. Took the sky rail up to Karanda. Was chatting to this English couple, who were on their
dream holiday - minus cyclone. Karunda was a bit boring, just faffed around the markets, and got a pic with a Koala, awww.
Took the scenic train back to Cairns, didnt see anything scenic as I fell asleep. Back in Cairns had some food at the world famous Woolshed, and got
pissed. Headed to the bus station, got the 1am bus to Airlie Beach.
10 hours later arrived in Airlie Beach, headed to the Backpackers by the Bay hostel. Without a doubt best hostel Ive stayed, anyone going
to Airlie stay there. Had a few beers at the hostel bar, was this nutter from Thailand doing a fire show.
Then he had this dream machine, few people went on. I had a go; he said I was really into it. You sit there, put these glasses
on, close your eyes the glasses have these flashing lights, you see all this stuff through you're eyelids. Feels like you
are asleep, but you hear and aware of everything around you - hard to explain.
Next day did a cruise of the Whitsunday Islands. First stop was Hook Island, did some snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. They recommend wearing stinger suits. Everyone else did, I thought id save $7 and risk it. Although
in the ocean any time anything touched me I crapped it. Also went to the under water observatory - crap. Next stop was lunch,
really nice seafood. Next stop was Whithaven Beach, probably one of the best Ive seen. After that was off to Long Island, just sat on the beach drinking some bizarre cocktails.
Then fed these parakeets things. About 6 of them on my arms and head. Headed back to Airlie, on the boat the crew said my
fav words "free wine" not many people drank, so I sat up the back with these Ozzies and the crew drinking it.
Back in Airlie, got pissed at the bar, and went for a few beers afterward with Dean and some other guy. Just sitting
it the bar realised it was 10.20pm, had to say bye, run back 10 mins to the hostel, and run to the bus station with half my
body weight attached to my bag, did make the bus thou. Driver wouldnt let me watch the movie, after pleading with him, still
no. Walking back to my seat this guy at the back is like here mate. I walk up, he had one of those portable DVD's with screen,
Im like WTF, anyway, sat there watching minority report and signs, and drinking my JD.
Arrived in Hervey Bay
- Crap. Did do dome horse riding whish was good. Went to Fraser Island, which was also crap, so no point describing it.
If you haven't fallen asleep yet, my next stop was Byron Bay, very hippy place. Went Hand gliding off Cape Byron, was amazing, I hear quite a few swear words emerged from me. Walked up to the lighthouse, saw loads
of bottlenose dolphins. Stood on Australia's most easterly point, saw the full moon rise, b4 anyone else in OZ. Went downhill
mountain biking, really good, pretty muddy though, but did swim under some water falls. Last night in Byron sat on the beach
drinking, and then there was a massive thunderstorm, completely pissing it down. As we were a bit pissed we didnt run for
cover instead, went swimming in the sea.
Next stop was Brisbane, stayed in Tinbillys, pretty good. Meals where amazing, got discounts on food and beer in the bar
below if you stayed in the hostel, so had a pretty cheap night last night.
Flew back to Sydney this morning, although, went to the Domestic instead of the International terminal, just made the flight before it
closed. Arrived back in Sydney, checked into the YeeHA, booked my OZ and Fiji tours, really looking forward to doing those.
Went out this afternoon with friends from work, got really pissed, met up with Luci, Abbie and Rich in the city for
a few beers.
Im out of Australia tomorrow (for real this time) going to Christchurch. Really going to miss
OZ, been a great year here, dont want to leave
